Local Authorities

The Local Government Department audits the accounts for Ministry of Local Government as well as the Abstracts of Accounts for all Local Authorities (LA) in the country. Part IV Sections 21 to 27 of the Public Audit Act provide for preparation and submission of accounts for audit and reporting on the audit.
Currently, there are 175 LA in the country comprising of 1 City Council, 44 Municipal Councils, 63 Town Councils and 67 County Councils.
